Always a Good Time at the Dakota

Kicking Off Spring at The Dakota

Inaugural Fifth Friday

I have two favorite times of the year in South Texas.  One is the early weeks of fall with those first cool winds that start blowing the heat out from around here.  The other is spring (all two to three weeks of it), when the mild temperatures and sunny days practically beg you to step outside and explore for a while.

The wildflowers are in bloom Texas, the days are getting longer, and breezy evenings provide the perfect opportunity to spend some time with old and new friends outdoors. When the opportunity came up to do that very thing and debut Tredecim at one of my favorite watering holes, I jumped at the chance.

I showed some of my work at The Dakota East Side Ice House’s inaugural Fifth Friday during the last week of March. It was a great evening showcasing the art work of Elizabeth Rodriguez and other great local artists.

Speaking of which, I shared a couple of tables with one of my great friends Oscar Felan.  Oscar is an emerging artist from right here in San Antonio.  He and I have logged a considerable number of miles traveling around the country and Central and South America. He and his wife Audrey (one of my oldest friends) are a couple of my favorite traveling companions.  Oscar’s got a bold, graphic style to his work that I’m sure you’ll dig.  You can see some of his work below and I encourage you to check it when you get a chance.

I’d like to extend a big thanks to Kent Oliver and The Dakota East Side Ice House for hosting Tredecim during Dakota’s inaugural Fifth Friday. If you’re ever in the neighborhood and need a cool place to have a drink and some great food, be sure to stop by the Dakota. I know you’ll like the place. There’s a good chance I’ll be out on the patio enjoying a cold one and a fine sandwich. Stop by and chat.

Spring is a great time to book a portrait session, too.  If you’ve been thinking it’s time to update your portrait, give me a call.  I’d love to talk to you about it.

I’ll update the website soon with some of the prints from the show.  They’ll be available for sale. You can follow Tredecim Photography on social media here:
