CLASS OF 2020: A SENIOR YEAR TO REMEMBER

To say 2020 has been a challenge to the graduating class of 2020 is a huge understatement. It’s hard to imagine putting in so much hard work over the past 13 years to reach this milestone only to have a global pandemic (not to mention possible murder hornets) take away the ceremony of reaching that huge milestone. It’s a heartbreaking disappointment that’s felt not only by graduates, but by supportive parents, family, teachers, and friends.

In the time before pandemic and social distancing were everyday terms, I had the chance to photograph four special graduates. Each one of them has worked hard during their time in school and has achieved great personal success in their classwork, participation in sports and cheer, student peer groups, or social clubs. Despite how the year has ended for them, I know each of them has the fortitude and drive to push through.

I’d like to offer my congratulations to these seniors. Although they were dealt a bad hand with their graduation ceremonies, they’ve all been able to focus on the positive and keep their heads turned to the future.  I think each one of them has a great journey ahead of them and I wish them great luck in the next phase of their young lives.

So here they are, some of my favorite seniors. Please click on the photos to expand.

NADYIA - CHURCHILL HIGH SCHOOL

Nadyia is on her way to the University of Alabama where she’ll be majoring in Biology. ROLL TIDE!

THE “FAMILIA” TRIPLETS

These three are practically blood cousins. They’ve grown up with each other and will keep you on you toes. Shooting their session at Landa Library was an adventure in itself.

KENNA - CHURCHILL HIGH SCHOOL

Kenna will be attending Texas Tech University in the fall to study Kinesiology. Wreck ‘Em!

SOPHIE - SAMUEL CLEMENS HIGH SCHOOL

Sophie will be attending Texas Tech University in the fall to major in Physical Therapy. WRECK ‘EM!

AUSTEN - STEELE HIGH SCHOOL

Austen will be serving our country starting this summer where he’s been accepted into the US Navy’s Nuclear Engineering Program. GO NAVY!

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

A Final Word

For those of you who have had graduate plans upended by having graduate sessions cancelled or even if the current crises took hold before you had a chance to schedule your senior’s shoot,  I’d be happy to be happy to discuss setting up an outdoor session to document this important milestone.

Proper social distancing will be practiced, of course. Although I’d like to be able to offer caps and gowns for use during senior sessions, I don’t feel it would be prudent to share communal caps and gowns. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Thanks!
